"What I love about music is it crosses over so many boundaries that humans put up; gender, race, religion. I love the way music gets me to people," said Paul Colman.
He is the lead guitarist for the Newsboys. Paul Colman’s mission is to reach people through music wherever they’re at.
"Once you’ve tasted amazing food, the best food that people can cook, you just can’t taste a tv dinner the same way. Having God and having Him sustain me is like the best food." explained Paul. "Music, entertainment…it’s not satisfying in itself but when you come to that point where you realize who you are and where God is and why He’s given you this job to do suddenly it opens up a brand new level of satisfaction because you realize music is serving people. It’s about serving each other."
He speaks of serving others and whether it’s in front of an audience of thousands or behind the scenes, this humble man of God says he wants nothing more than to be a servant for Jesus Christ.
"When you turn up in a venue like this, that lady over there doing security is as important to me as anybody here. I want her to know we’re not just a bunch of rock stars. The guy that drove us around today, I want him to know and I want when people go to our dressing room and it isn’t trashed, that’s as important as any note that we will sing or play. God shows you that. I couldn’t figure that out on my own."
"He came after me, I didn’t come after Him. You know, every other religion is about people chasing after a deity. Whereas, Jesus comes after you and He whispers in your ear and He leaves you the kind of voicemails that say, ‘I love you. I’m crazy about you’." stated Paul. "He is the way, the truth and the life. Some people have a little bit of the way. Some people even have some of the truth. Some people have some life. If they didn’t have that, people wouldn’t follow things. If Buddha didn’t have anything descent to say then there wouldn’t be Buddhists. But only Jesus has the way, the truth and the life and only He has defeated death and our greatest enemy. Buddha never defeated death. Muhommed never rose from the dead."
From Melbourne, Australia, Paul Colman is a husband and father first. His music career spans decades and joined the Newsboys in 2006. He admits that It’s been an incredible journey with God leading the way from the very beginning.
"Why am I in this? I’m in this because I understand finally that Jesus said that everything is based on loving Him and loving others. And so, whatever we do that’s the purpose of it and that’s the journey of it. In the end do you give yourself credit or God credit for the way that you’ve lived your life. That’s called salvation
