"Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left." (Micaiah 1 Kings 22:19)
Angels,  the only mediators, were worshipped, being considered messengers from God, as well as  reconcilers of men.
St. Paul,  in his Epistle to the Colossians taught people that Jesus  is the visible image of the invisible God, prior to all creations, Creator of the highest angels.
St.Paul said that the Law was made known through angels, as their ordinances.
"The Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the angels with Him." The Apostle referred to  God’s second advent words mentioned in the Septuagint Version of the Old Testament
Salvation is the work of the Son. However, the angels have a service for the Son, when men can inherit that salvation.
The Son is of the essence of the Father, "Light out of Light, very God out of very God."
Michael appears in Daniel's vision as "the great prince" who defends Israel against its enemies; in the Book of Revelation, he leads God's armies to final victory over the forces of evil. Devotion to Michael is the oldest angelic devotion, appeared in the East in the fourth century.. The Church in the West began to observe a feast honoring Michael and the angels in the fifth century
Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, which lost his place in heaven. (Revelation 12:7-9)
Gabriel appeared in Daniel's visions, and to a girl – Mary, announcing Mary about God’s will to bear the Messiah.
They have different missions:  Michael protects; Gabriel announces.
