YOUR STRENGTH IS NOT ENOUGH

Commanding positive results in life is not solely a function of how strong, good, educated, rich, eloquent and smart you are, it takes being rightly position in the direction of God.

In as much as your senses, ability and giftings are given by God for your profiting, wisdom permits that behind everything that operates there is a power behind it's operation. Nothing works of itself, there is something behind every workings either positive or negative.

“Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, so a curse without cause does not alight.” Proverbs 26:2

No matter what you might have accomplished before in your life or you are currently achieving, understand this that your skills, efforts, wisdom, connections even money could have played a role, yet never forget that it was not through them that all things work, there is a mighty force that controls the universe and this is the Author and finisher of all things.

“Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.” Psalm 127:1

Your strength is not enough, never rely wholly on your strength, it takes God for things to work. Your strength could get you started but it cannot take you far. Many today are frustrated & depressed not because God wants them to, but because they have chosen to depend on themselves. Even many in the body of Christ, though they attend every service & offer every sacrifice that occurs to them, yet they have allowed their strength to be their source.

Beloved, your source defines your size, Peter was a fisher man with vast experience in fishing, for long he has been catching fishes, however, one faithful day when heavens want to teach him a divine lesson that strength is not enough, he went fishing and caught nothing.

“One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.” Luke 5:1-7

Insight into this scriptures reveals that Peter had three things as his strength, yet they never worked

1.The Time: He went at the right time. The mid-night forms one of the best time to catch fish as well as early morning. Peter was at the riverside these two periods, letting down his net yet he caught nothing, all he got as a result was WASTED TIME.

He had his time wasted and he was invariably delayed from doing other things. As a matter of fact he ended up spending extra time waiting. So also many lives has been wasted and good things delayed because they consciously & unconsciously relied on their strength.

The only one that controls time & season is God, no matter how strong you are and how great your effort is, if he does not allow the time to work for you all is a waste.

“He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” Daniel 2:22.

I decree, every power delaying you from moving forward in your time, the Lord destroy them in Jesus name. Amen.

2.The Tool: Peter went with the net that he has always been using & perhaps he got a bigger one, yet the same net that has produced before failed him and all he got instead of fishes was WASTED EFFORTS.

Get this clear, the bible says “No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.” Psalm 33:16-17. No matter the tool you have in your possession, even money they can fail you at anytime. Your strength is not enough, your dependency on them rather than God will only land you in frustration. The more peter released his net into the river, the more he caught nothing and at the end it was a waste of effort.

Stop getting your fingers burnt and your efforts wasted trying to make thing work out by yourself even in ministry, it produces nothing but futility. It takes God for it to bring forth appropriate result. Though your education and other resources could be a tool in your hand, but they are not enough.

“... for by strength shall no man prevail.” 1 Samuel 2:9

3.The Team: As part of the advantage that Peter had to get result was a team of fisher men, but surprisingly none of them caught anything until power changed hands. All they ended up getting was SHAME. Result is not in the size of the people, it is in the strength of God. Certain strategies might have worked before, but never mistakes the result for the effort, it is God that brings forth results. In as much as your effort is necessary, God remains the one that allowed it work.

The fact that something is common does not mean it is right, it could be commonly wrong. Everyone around you may be doing things in a certain way and go off with it, but it does not mean it will work for you.

As Kings & Priests, never mistake the way they do things in the environment you find yourself as the way God wants it to be done. Check your life, on whose strength do you rely? Is it on your strength, The Strength of your economy or that of God?

“We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago. With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our fathers; you crushed the peoples and made our fathers flourish. It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.” Psalm 44:1-3.

It takes the strength of the most High God to consistently command result in life, Israel possessed the Land not because they could use the whole things they possessed but because the hand of God was involved.

Learning to rely and trust on the strength of God is the foundation for winning in life. When Peter gave Jesus the rightful place through his boat which was also part of the tools he had; Two important things were reflected in what he did and this released  the harvest of fishes that he got to the extent that his net began to break.

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets

to catch some fish. “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!” Luke 5:4-6 (NLT)

Peter at the word of Jesus did what he was told to do (Right Thing), the way he was told to do it(Right Way), and this produced the result. It did not allow his senses to confuse him that it is already morning and that he has tried it many times, however, he obeyed what he was  told to do and the way he was told. Get this clear, it does not matter what God says and how he said it, know certainly that it must be right. Peter said I am relying on the strength of what you say, the end was a testimony.

Relying on your strength simply could be doing things your own way no matter what God says, it could even be doing the right things the way you feel or want and not the way God desires it to be done.

Obedience to the direction & dictate of God is a prove of your dependency and reliance on him. Most especially when what he said does not look conventional to you, in order words, it does not look like the usual way or the way people does it.

Check yourself, when last did you do things his way? Are you not doing what you do just to impress, oppress or even depress these around you. It takes total commitment to what ever God says to get what he has in stock as best for your life.

The moment Peter chose to follow what Jesus said commitedly, he got the best result he never taught possible in a day.  If only you can chose to submit your senses, strategies, and all others that he has given you to him and rely on his strength, you cannot fail in the battle of life though situation may arise against you to bring you down, then you can say like David said in Psalm 27:1

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life;

Of whom shall I be afraid?”.

If God is your strength, then he must be your source in all things.  Desire Him, Obey Him, Serve Him, Worship Him, Live your life for Him, and Depend on Him, because YOUR STRENGTH IS NOT ENOUGH
