Christian Persecution & Perseverence

FRESH BREAD FROM OUR LORD… Many have been persecuted in my name.  Hebrews 10:32–39.  “Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.  Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side-by-side with those who were so treated.  You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully excepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourself had better and lasting possessions.  So do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.  For in just a very little while He who is coming will come and will not delay.  But my righteous ones will live by faith.  If you shrink back, I will not be pleased.  Be not with those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.

Marti’s Note:
Doesn’t it amaze you how the Bible is so filled with life and truth and hope for us today.  In this passage God commends these Christians for bearing up under persecution.  Sometimes they were persecuted with words and insults.  Other times they stood beside those who were.  But one interesting thing I noticed was when their property was taken away they were joyful because they knew God’s love was better than anything they owned.  He said they would be richly rewarded.  He also has confidence in all of us that we will stand firm in any persecution we might endure.  This passage is becoming more alive than ever to me!
